Quick answer
At minimum, once a year, and immediately after any major change: a renovation, a significant purchase added to your valuables, a change in your liability exposure, or simply because construction costs have moved since the policy was last reviewed. Given how much Ohio construction costs have climbed in recent years, a policy that hasn’t been checked against current rebuild costs in the past 12 months is a real candidate for being underinsured, even if nothing about the home itself has changed.
We recommend treating the annual review as non-negotiable, the same way you’d review any other part of a financial plan on a fixed schedule rather than waiting for a reason to look.
